running since Aug 18
β

What's running automatically. A daily 9am email sends this season's running totals plus anything new in the prior 24 hours. An hourly emergency and law-enforcement monitor watches Roseville PD, Sacramento County Sheriff, Placer County Sheriff and Sacramento-area news, emailing immediately on anything involving a campus — safety items flagged 🚨 and placed first. Both run on public sources with roughly an hour of detection lag; neither is a substitute for official emergency channels.

This season so farEvery earned placement, most recent first — 3 items and counting

Every item verified with a working link. School started the week of Aug 3–11, so this is roughly the first two weeks of the year — a small number is expected, and the point is watching it climb rather than judging it today.

Five of eight sites have no coverage yet this year — Antelope, Oakmont, Roseville HS, Woodcreek, and Roseville Pathways. That is normal two weeks in, and fall sports don't start until Aug 28, which historically drives the first real wave. Worth watching rather than worrying about.

Social — what's measurableWhat's tracked today, what needs Meta Business Suite or Supermetrics, and why

This is the honest gap in the dashboard, and it's the one thing that needs you.

✅ Currently tracked

  • Follower counts, all 8 sites plus district — read directly off each public profile, no login. Woodcreek leads at 5,529; Pathways trails at 228.
  • District posts and news amplification — roughly 35 of ~490 Instagram posts were reachable logged-out, including 7 posts amplifying news coverage.
  • Earned press and broadcast — the counter above, refreshed daily at 9am.

⛔ Not measurable without your data

  • Organic social views. Impressions and reach live in Meta Business Suite behind district login. No public page exposes them.
  • Content interactions in aggregate. Individual post likes are sometimes visible; a reliable district-wide total is not.
  • Watch time, follower growth rate, per-post reach. Same restriction.
  • The daily email leaves these lines blank rather than estimating them. A guessed view count would be the least trustworthy number on the page.

Supermetrics is connected — but the Meta sources still need one login each. The connector itself is live and queryable. Instagram Insights and Facebook Insights both return NOT_AUTHENTICATED, so no data flows yet. Two links, one click each, and they have to be opened by someone with admin access to the district's Meta accounts:

SourceStatusWhat it unlocksLogin link
Instagram InsightsSupermetrics source ID: IGI Not authenticated Views, reach, impressions, follower count and engagement per profile — all 8 school accounts plus district Login link — district Meta admin only, not shown on this public page
Facebook InsightsSupermetrics source ID: FB Not authenticated Page reach, post impressions, engagement and follower counts across the district's Pages Login link — district Meta admin only, not shown on this public page

One caveat on Instagram follower data, from Supermetrics' own documentation: the follower_count metric can only be fetched for the last 30 days, and never for the current day. So follower history starts accumulating from the day you connect — it cannot be backfilled to the start of the school year. Connecting sooner means a longer runway of real data.

2025–26 archiveLast year's final numbers, kept separate for comparison only

Kept for comparison only. These are not current-year figures and are excluded from every counter above.

The research since then found far more than the one-pager claimed. Against 19 placements on the district's own count, this dashboard has verified 162 items across all years (an Aug 18 accuracy pass removed 2 duplicate listings of the same story) — including 81 broadcast segments the district never logged. The 2025–26 archive above is what was claimed; the Press Coverage tab is what actually exists. That gap is itself the strongest argument for running a live counter this year instead of reconstructing one at the end.

How it's valued

  • Views — priced at 2026 Meta CPM (~$6–$7.68 per 1,000), the cost to buy the same impressions.
  • Interactions — priced at cost-per-engagement ($0.15–$0.30 each), conservative end of range.
  • Organic only — no paid spend on either platform; news coverage counted separately.
$27K

What this would have cost to buy. Priced at 2026 Meta ad rates, reaching 2M views and 39.9K interactions through paid ads would run ~$18K–$27K — and up to ~$50K counting the trust premium organic content carries over ads. RJUHSD spent $0.

How it's calculated

  • Reach — ~120K viewers per TV segment (a conservative 2.8% of the market) plus article readership = ~1.9M total.
  • Ad-equivalent — that reach priced at local-news CPM ($25 per 1,000) = ~$47K to buy.
  • 3× credibility premium — standard earned-media multiplier; a news story is trusted far more than a paid ad.
+50–100

It's not just a number. After one news segment aired, Antelope High School's theater program saw a 50–100 jump in attendance — families who'd never heard of the program showed up because of the coverage. Real reach, real enrollment interest, real goodwill.

RJUHSD sites — verified public accounts

Pulled directly from each account's public profile (Aug 12–14, 2026) — no login required. Instagram follower counts are confirmed by direct fetch; Facebook/X counts come from search-index snippets and may lag the live count. What's still missing: real engagement analytics (views, reach, watch time, interaction rate) per school — those live inside Meta Business Suite behind district login, which this research couldn't reach. Follower counts and press counts above are real and public; the dollar-value estimate built from them follows below.

Verified positive press coverage

162 items — built up across several research passes (the district's own Media Coverage page and Granite Bay's "In the News" page, a per-site deep search covering CIF Sac-Joaquin, MaxPreps, Cal-Hi Sports, Lenaea/CHSSA award records and CDE recognitions, and the Aug 17 broadcast-completeness sweep that added dozens of TV segments the district never logged), with an Aug 18 accuracy pass that resorted everything chronologically and removed 2 duplicate listings of the same story. Sorted newest to oldest within each year below. Negative and neutral stories were deliberately excluded here — the Overview tab's methodology section lists exactly what got filtered out, and the Law Enforcement tab deliberately does not filter, since safety monitoring needs the full picture.

Update from the deeper pass: Roseville Pathways went from zero press hits to one genuinely strong item — Adelante High School was named a 2025 California Model Continuation High School by the state, one of only 74 schools statewide, independently confirmed by CDE's own release, the CCEA+ association, and Placer County Office of Education's Facebook. Antelope, Woodcreek, and West Park all grew meaningfully too (see counts above); Roseville Adult School and the CDE/Pathways item remain the two spots with no independent outlet pickup — both are self-published or government records, not press coverage in the traditional sense.

How the estimate works — and its limits

The district's own Earned Media ROI one-pager values its 19 confirmed TV/print stories at a combined $141,000 (reach × local-news CPM × a 3× credibility premium). Dividing that: $141,000 ÷ 19 = $7,421 average value per verified outlet story. This tab applies that same average to every site's own verified outlet-story count.

  • This is circular by design, not hidden. Granite Bay's 19 outlet stories land at almost exactly $141,000 because that average was derived from a 19-story, $141,000 baseline in the first place — that's expected, not a coincidence to read into.
  • Read $898K as a ceiling, not a point estimate — this is the most important caveat on the page. The Aug 17 broadcast sweep took verified outlet stories from 68 to 121, and most of the additions are short Friday Gameday and Game of the Week highlight reels. A 90-second flag-football highlight is not worth the same as a full KCRA news feature, but the flat $7,421 average values them identically. A rough sanity check: if the ~40 highlight-reel segments are discounted to a quarter of a feature's value, the total lands near $880K — still a large increase over the prior $488K, and a more defensible number to cite.
  • The earlier Nielsen station-weighting still holds directionally. Using Sacramento DMA audience data (Adults 25-54, Final Overnights 12/30/24–12/28/25), KCRA's early-news audience runs 2.05× the local four-station average, CBS13 0.89×, FOX40 0.63×, ABC10 0.43×. That weighting isn't re-applied to the expanded set here because the new items are mostly short-form and station-mixed; the practical takeaway is unchanged — a KCRA feature is worth roughly twice an average placement.
  • Print/digital stories still use the flat $7,421 average — Nielsen only measures broadcast, so there's no equivalent audience data to weight a Sacramento Bee or Gold Mountain CA News article by.
  • Award/recognition records and self-published items are excluded from the dollar row — they're real and counted in "Total verified items," but they didn't earn independent press pickup, so there's no reach/CPM basis to value them the same way.
  • Social follower counts aren't part of this estimate at all. Valuing social reach requires per-post view/reach data that only exists inside Meta Business Suite — still not accessible here. Followers are shown as the best available public proxy, not folded into the dollar figure.

Victory HS, Phoenix HS, and Lincoln HS are genuine coverage gaps, not search failures — Victory and Phoenix are small continuation/alternative schools where thin coverage is normal for the school type; Lincoln HS is a comprehensive school that turned up little in this pass and would benefit from a dedicated follow-up. All Facebook counts and any items marked "unconfirmed" come from search snippets, not a direct account check — treat them as directional only.

Verify before publishing anything from this table. District rosters, superintendents, and school counts can change year to year; confirm against each district's own site first. Real tracking for any of these would need the same two feeds as the RJUHSD tab — a social insights export and a tagged media log — which those districts would need to provide, or public-facing sources (Google Alerts, public Meta page stats) as a lighter-weight substitute.

Methodology, sourcing & limitsWhat's verified, what got filtered out, and the exact valuation formulas

What's verified vs. placeholder

✅ Verified in this beta

  • District totals (this tab) — from the district's two one-pagers: Social Media by the Numbers (Mar 2025–Jun 2026) and The Value of Earned Media (Aug 2025–Jun 2026). Dollar figures, view counts, and the Antelope theater anecdote match the source PDFs exactly.
  • Per-site social accounts (Sites & ROI) — Instagram handles and follower counts confirmed by direct fetch of each public profile (Aug 12–14, 2026, no login).
  • Press Coverage — 162 items across several research passes, sourced from rjuhsd.us/departments/communications (district Media Coverage page), Granite Bay's own "In the News" page, and outlet-by-outlet searches across KCRA, CBS13, ABC10, FOX40, Sacramento Bee, Gold Mountain/Placer Sentinel, Roseville Today, trade press, plus CIF Sac-Joaquin, MaxPreps, Cal-Hi Sports, Lenaea/CHSSA and CDE award records. A follow-up audit (Aug 17) spot-checked 24 links against source content and found no dead links or fabrications; 5 items had wording tightened for precision. The Aug 17 broadcast-completeness sweep then added dozens more TV segments the district never logged, and an Aug 18 accuracy pass removed 2 duplicate listings of the same story and resorted the tab newest-to-oldest.
  • County comparison (Sites & ROI) — all 16 Placer County districts cross-checked against the Placer County Office of Education's own roster and CDE records.
  • Law Enforcement — agency handles verified against each agency's own official site (rosevilleca.gov, sacsheriff.com, placer.ca.gov); jurisdiction confirmed by checking each campus address against current city-limit boundaries.

⚠️ Approximate or unconfirmed

  • Facebook and X/Twitter follower counts — both platforms blocked direct page fetches (login walls); those numbers come from search-index snippets, which can lag the live count. Treat as directional, not exact.
  • Real engagement analytics (views, reach, watch time, interaction rate) per school — those live inside Meta Business Suite behind district login, which this research couldn't reach. The district-wide $168K valuation still can't be split by school without that export.
  • Roseville High School has two Instagram handles in circulation (@rosevillehs1912, linked from the school's own site, and @rhstigersinfo) — confirm which is current with the school before citing a number publicly.
  • Roseville Adult School has no findable Instagram account — confirmed absent from its own official /socials page, not an oversight in this research.
  • Several district press releases (West Park Cheer, Antelope flag football, KAI Partners event) are the district's own writing, not third-party outlet coverage — tagged "District release" vs. "Outlet" in the Press Coverage table so you can tell them apart.

What got filtered out

Per the "positive only" brief, the research excluded: safety/lockdown incidents, a gender-policy dispute story, boundary-change controversy framing, graduation-relocation backlash coverage, and any CIF loss framed primarily as a loss. A few leads were dropped entirely rather than risk misattribution — an unverifiable West Park state-championship claim, an Adult School citizenship-milestone story with no confirmable source link, and an AVID-recognition hit that turned out to reference a different "Roseville" district in Minnesota.

Two research passes

The Press Coverage and ROI by Site tabs reflect a second, deeper pass run per school — broadened lookback to Jan 2023–Aug 2026, added CIF Sac-Joaquin official results, MaxPreps, Cal-Hi Sports, Lenaea/CHSSA award records, and CDE state recognitions on top of the original outlet sweep. That pass added 29 items to the original 55 (84 total) and turned Roseville Pathways from zero coverage to a genuine state-level honor. Every agent flagged its own search-budget limits — a few threads (Lincoln HS news, additional DECA/robotics/alumni angles) are marked as needing a further follow-up pass rather than reported as "nothing exists."

  • RJUHSD Law Enforcement Social Media Monitor — an hourly cloud routine checking Roseville PD, Sacramento County Sheriff, and Placer County Sheriff's public social accounts for any mention of an RJUHSD site, positive or otherwise (this one intentionally does not filter to positive-only — it's safety monitoring, not a press digest).
  • RJUHSD News & Outlet Monitor — runs hourly, checks RSS feeds for 5 outlets first (FOX40, ABC10, Sacramento Bee, Roseville Today, Placer Sentinel — faster and more reliable than search), then falls back to keyword search for outlets with no feed (KCRA, CBS13, Gold Mountain CA News). Also comprehensive, not positive-filtered — email alerts fire on anything new, with safety/reputational items flagged first.
  • Both routines only touch public web content — no logins, no Meta Business Suite access, no personal data collection — and both are snapshot checks with real detection lag (likely an hour or more), not real-time feeds.

Verification pass, Aug 17, 2026

A dedicated accuracy and completeness check: 5 parallel agents re-swept every RJUHSD site plus the district for anything published Aug 14–17 across all tracked outlets and each outlet's own social accounts, and a 6th agent spot-checked 24 of the 85 press links (roughly 1 in 4) against their actual page content.

  • Genuinely nothing new in that 3-day window — confirmed independently by all 5 agents, not a search failure. Fall sports don't start until Aug 28, which explains the quiet stretch for most sites.
  • 24/24 sampled links resolve and substantively match their claims. No dead links, no fabrications. 5 items had minor wording overreach — a date stated more precisely than the source confirmed, a dollar figure that couldn't be re-verified, an award name only visible in a headline not the body — all corrected in place and marked with a note.
  • One real find: Roseville Adult School posted a new "Certified Water Systems Operator" program story on its own site Aug 14 — added as a district release; the exact article URL couldn't be confirmed, so the link points to the school's news listing instead of guessing a slug.
  • RSS feeds discovered and verified live for FOX40 (education-specific), ABC10, Sacramento Bee, Roseville Today, and Placer Sentinel — now wired into the hourly monitor as the primary check, ahead of search. KCRA, CBS13, and Gold Mountain CA News have no usable feed and still rely on search.
  • Confirmed outlet social handles for CBS13, ABC10, FOX40, and Sacramento Bee across all three platforms. KCRA's site blocks this session's fetch tools entirely — its handles are search-corroborated only. Gold Mountain CA News has no unified account; its legacy Roseville Press-Tribune handle is the closer substitute.

Broadcast sweep, Aug 17, 2026 — the biggest correction so far

Prompted by a single missing segment — Good Day Sacramento's West Park girls flag football story — a targeted broadcast-only sweep found that TV coverage had been systematically under-counted across every site. Verified press items went from 85 to 135; verified broadcast segments went from 28 to 81. The gap was not random.

  • Why it was missed: the station websites (kcra.com, abc10.com, fox40.com) block automated reading, so earlier passes relied on general search, which under-indexes TV video. The unlock was querying YouTube channels directly and mining the Wayback Machine's CDX index for archived station URLs, then verifying each one live. That method found segments plain search never surfaced.
  • The district's own log is the other half of the problem. RJUHSD's Media Coverage page holds 30 items (not the 36 previously recorded) and has not been updated since roughly May 2026 — which is exactly why the July 2026 flag football segment is absent from it. It also carries one structurally broken entry (the Sierra College item has no link at all), one item that survives only as a Google Drive file, and three filed under a broadcaster but linking to YouTube.
  • Granite Bay is the only campus with its own "In the News" page, and its 10 items have never been absorbed into the district-level log. The other seven sites have no media-coverage page; four have a "News & Media" section that carries only student-produced media.
  • Good Day Sacramento runs a recurring franchise at our campuses — Friday Gameday visits, first-day-of-school remotes, program features. This is a standing, predictable booking opportunity rather than occasional luck.
  • Spanish-language TV has covered RJUHSD and was a complete blind spot — six segments across Univision 19 and Telemundo 33. Every Telemundo hit is crisis coverage with no proactive story to balance it, and Telemundo names the district in print as "El Distrito Escolar Unificado de Roseville," an entity that does not exist. Supplying correct Spanish-language boilerplate is a cheap fix.
  • Two things I got wrong and corrected: I had published a Sierra College dual-enrollment link that was never verified — the district's page has no link there at all. I removed it as fabricated, then a later pass located the real segment, so it is now restored with a verified URL. Separately, the "Awesome Culinary Program" segment never names a school on air; it is Oakmont, confirmed through Oakmont's own Facebook post.
  • The reposted-segment archive doesn't exist. The district's published YouTube URL (youtube.com/user/RJUHSDNews) returns a hard 404 while still being listed on two district pages. The only active district-adjacent channel posts board meetings. Reviving it to host segments with station permission would create the durable per-school asset this dashboard has been approximating.

Booking gaps the sweep exposed — the most actionable output

Cataloguing 180+ broadcast assets revealed something more useful than a bigger number: stations already have standing franchises that visit our campuses on a predictable schedule, and they are visiting some sites repeatedly while never visiting others. These are not cold pitches — they are established relationships with an uneven distribution.

  • Good Day Sacramento broadcast its entire morning show live from Woodcreek on Nov 17, 2023 — five to six segments across one morning, covering the football team, the Commercial Music Production program, cheer, and the cast of Grease. That is the proven template for what a campus remote looks like.
  • West Park has never hosted one. This was verified rather than assumed — nine different slug variants were probed against the CBS archive and all returned genuine 404s. The station that has covered West Park cheer, flag football, stunt team and student photographers has never been invited for a morning remote.
  • ABC10's Mark S. Allen has visited Woodcreek five or more times and West Park zero times. He is the single warmest recurring positive-coverage relationship in the file, and half the district has no contact with him.
  • Woodcreek's 2025 section championship drew ABC10 and CBS but zero KCRA or FOX40. West Park's first-ever state cheer title drew Good Day Sacramento alone. Championship moments are being under-pitched even when they happen.
  • Real stories that got no broadcast coverage at all: TEDxWoodcreek, Woodcreek's volleyball state final run, West Park's highest-graduation-rate-in-South-Placer distinction, and the Niko Dockery wrestling story (ABC10 ran an article, no video). Each is a segment that didn't happen.
  • Named contacts worth keeping warm: KCRA's Melanie Wingo personally posts RJUHSD live shots to her own channel — segments that exist nowhere on kcra.com. That is a reporter actively invested in this district.

Valuation formulas

Social media

  • Views priced at 2026 Meta CPM (~$6–$7.68 / 1,000 impressions).
  • Interactions priced at cost-per-engagement ($0.15–$0.30 each).
  • Organic only — no paid spend on either platform.

Earned news media

  • Reach: ~120K viewers/segment (2.8% of Sacramento DMA #20) + article readership.
  • Ad-equivalent: reach × local-news CPM ($25 / 1,000).
  • Earned value: ad-equivalent × 3 (standard earned-media credibility premium).

Next steps to go live

  • 1. Connect Meta Business Suite exports per school Page/Profile — views, reach, interactions — refreshed monthly, to fill in the RJUHSD Schools tab.
  • 2. Stand up a media log (spreadsheet or CRM) tagging every TV/print/digital hit by site and outlet, so earned-media totals can be sliced per school.
  • 3. Set a refresh cadence — monthly pulls keep this dashboard current without manual rebuilds each time.
  • 4. Decide scope on Placer County — confirm which neighboring districts/schools are worth tracking and whether public data (Google Alerts, public page stats) is sufficient or a paid monitoring tool (e.g. Muck Rack, Meltwater) is warranted.

Why this matters more than the follower counts suggest

!

Sacramento County Sheriff's Instagram alone (102K) reaches 34× more people than RJUHSD's own Instagram (3,004). Placer County Sheriff's Facebook (~146K) reaches roughly 48× the district's Facebook (~3,039). In any incident involving a campus, the agency's post is the version most families see first — often before the district's own message lands. Knowing the moment one goes up is the difference between leading the story and reacting to it.

Roseville PD's X account has been dead since July 2024. The agency covering six of our eight campuses has not posted to @RSVL_Police in roughly two years, while still listing it in its own bios. If that handle appears anywhere in a district emergency-communications plan or staff reference sheet, that reference is stale and should be corrected — during an incident, RPD publishes to Facebook and Instagram, not X.

PIO contacts — who to actually call

Published professional media-relations contacts for each agency. These are the counterparts a district PIO would coordinate with directly, and they beat any automated monitoring during a live incident.

Placer Alert is the shared emergency backbone — and Placer County Sheriff runs it. The Everbridge system covering Roseville is operated by PCSO in partnership with Roseville, Rocklin, Lincoln, Loomis, Auburn, Colfax and Placer County OES. A district emergency inside Roseville flows through a Placer-Sheriff-operated platform regardless of which agency actually responds — worth knowing before an incident, not during one.

Jurisdiction map — which agency covers which campus

Confirmed by checking each school's street address against current city-limit and incorporation boundaries. This determines who responds, who issues the public statement, and therefore whose feed to watch for a given site.

RJUHSD site Address Primary agency Why

One boundary worth re-checking annually: Woodcreek and West Park sit in the far-west 95747 corridor that was annexed from unincorporated Placer County into the City of Roseville. Current sourcing places both firmly inside city limits under Roseville PD, but that boundary has moved before as the corridor developed — worth confirming with the city each year rather than assuming it's permanent.

Historical baseline — what these agencies actually say about our campuses

  • Volume is rising year over year: 2 items in 2023 → 1 in 2024 → 3 in 2025 → 5 in 2026 (through August). This is not a quiet, flat pattern, and the trend line matters more than any single incident.
  • Threats and campus incidents drive most of it — swatting, bomb-threat emails, shooting threats, fights — clustering during the school year. The one summer item (Jul 2026) was an accident, not a threat.
  • Antelope HS generates the most agency communication of any single site (5 of 12 items), all from Sacramento County Sheriff — which communicates about that campus primarily through Facebook, not press releases. Roseville PD is the busiest agency overall (6 items), consistent with covering six of eight sites.
  • Roughly a quarter of these are good news. Three of the twelve are partnership items — joint active-shooter training, scholarships presented to Antelope students, and the SRO expansion. All three lived on agency channels, and two never appeared in district communications or press at all.

Current status & what to watch

  • Most recent documented item: Jul 15, 2026 — the Woodcreek utility cart incident, roughly one month ago.
  • No new mentions in the last ~30 days; recent agency activity has been routine community and back-to-school content.
  • School is back in session, which is historically the highest-risk window. The Aug 31 / Sep 1, 2023 West Park lockdown and swatting arrest landed in exactly these two weeks.
  • Follow up on the Antelope SRO expansion. Sheriff Cooper's April 2026 announcement committed resource officers to Antelope HS. Whether that materialized, and how it's being communicated to families, is a story the district has a stake in shaping.

False-positive traps — verify before reacting

Research surfaced several sources that look like RJUHSD incidents but are not. These are logged deliberately, because reacting publicly to one of them would be worse than missing a real story.

  • Center High School is also in Antelope — and is a different district (Center Joint Unified, not RJUHSD). Its March 6, 2026 bomb-threat lockdown is repeatedly mis-summarized by search engines as an "Antelope High School" incident. Always confirm which school before responding.
  • A KCRA video titled "Antelope High School lockdown lifted after bomb threat investigation" could not be dated or verified, and may itself be a mislabeling of the Center High School event. It is deliberately excluded from the table above rather than logged on an unverified title.
  • hoodline.com and usobituary.com are AI-generated aggregators. One usobituary item carries an "Antelope High" headline over a body describing Center High. Neither is usable as a source — always trace back to the original outlet.
  • A "September 2023 Antelope bomb threat" does not appear to exist. Search engines generate it by mis-dating a real March 7, 2011 story. Treat any such claim as an artifact.
  • Watch for other name collisions: Roseville, Minnesota has its own police department and school district (@RosevilleMN_PD, ISD 623), and Roseville, Michigan has a police department. All three surface in searches for "Roseville Police" and "Roseville schools."

Two corrections worth stating plainly. An earlier version of this tab called the incident volume low and described that as reassuring — deeper research proved that read wrong, and the corrected record shows a rising trend. It also claimed Instagram was the most reliable platform to monitor; that was true in interactive testing but false for the automated routine, where Instagram is network-blocked entirely. Both have been fixed above. The table lists only items verifiable with a working public link, so treat it as a floor, not a complete record — Sacramento County Sheriff has no searchable press-release archive, which is the single biggest gap in this research.

How the monitoring actually works — and where it falls short

An automated cloud routine runs every hour, checking all nine agency accounts for any post mentioning RJUHSD or one of the eight sites by name. It reports any mention — positive, routine, or serious — with anything safety-related flagged first and unmistakably. The confirmed handles and jurisdiction map above are built into the routine so it checks the right feeds directly instead of rediscovering them each run.

  • Hourly is the platform's floor, not true real-time. Scheduled routines cannot run more frequently than once an hour. In a fast-moving incident, that gap is real.
  • Every social platform is blocked to the automated routine. Instagram returns a hard network block, X/Twitter returns HTTP 402, and Facebook returns page titles without post content. All three are therefore reached only through search-engine indexing — which means effective detection lag is hours, not minutes. This was discovered by test-running the routine, not assumed.
  • The agencies publish faster on social than on their own websites — Placer County Sheriff's web newsroom updates roughly monthly while their social runs daily, and Sacramento County Sheriff's press-release pages currently render empty. Their Facebook and X feeds are the de facto newsroom of record, which is exactly the material hardest for automation to reach.
  • Monitoring @RSVL_Police is effectively wasted effort — the account has been dormant since July 2024. The routine has been updated to prioritize the channels Roseville PD actually uses.

What this suggests for RJUHSD communications

Actions worth taking

  • Audit any emergency-comms document that references @RSVL_Police. That account has been dead two years. Anyone told to watch it during an incident is watching nothing.
  • Build direct PIO relationships before you need them. Two of three agencies publish a named contact; Placer County Sheriff even publishes a dedicated after-hours critical-incident line. A phone relationship outperforms every form of monitoring on this page.
  • Claim the partnership stories. Three positive items — the Woodcreek training, the Antelope scholarships, the SRO expansion — ran on agency channels reaching hundreds of thousands, while two never appeared in district communications at all. That is earned media already produced and left unused.
  • Confirm the Antelope SRO commitment. Sheriff Cooper publicly committed resource officers to Antelope in April 2026. Whether it happened, and how families heard about it, is a story the district should be shaping rather than learning about secondhand.

Placer County Sheriff is worth studying

  • 146K Facebook followers in a county of roughly 410,000 people — their Instagram nearly matches Sacramento County's despite serving a fraction of the population.
  • Their communications are run by a former KCRA Sacramento executive producer (Elise Soviar, four Emmys). The output shows it: consistent visual system, disciplined daily cadence, identical assets cross-posted to all three platforms simultaneously.
  • They treat emergencies as a publishing cadence, not a single announcement — the Talbot Fire ran as dated AM/PM updates rather than one post.
  • For a district trying to grow organic reach on a $0 budget, this is the nearest local example of what disciplined public-sector social looks like at scale.
!

This is a monitoring aid, not an emergency notification system. For an active incident, official district and law-enforcement emergency channels are the authoritative source — never this dashboard. Given that every social platform blocks the automated routine and detection runs through search indexing, assume hours of lag. Treat this as a tool for catching public communications you'd otherwise miss and for keeping a record over time, not as a first line of alerting during a crisis.
